Cookie Policy

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device and hands back on later visits. It lets the site recognise you from one page to the next: without that mechanism, every click would look to the server like a brand new visitor.

What matters legally is not the file format but the act of storing information on your device or accessing information already stored there. This policy therefore also covers equivalent technologies, even though they are not technically cookies:

localStorage and sessionStorage

Browser storage with more capacity than a cookie. It is not sent to the server automatically, but it stores information on your device just as a cookie does.

Tracking pixels and web beacons

Invisible images or code snippets that tell a third party you have opened a page or an email.

Device fingerprinting

A technique that combines characteristics of your browser and device to recognise you without storing anything. It requires the same consent as a cookie. This site does not use it.

Third-party SDKs

Embedded libraries that can read from or write to browser storage on behalf of the provider publishing them.

2. Why we ask your permission

A unique identifier stored in your browser makes it possible to tie your behaviour to a specific device. That makes it personal data, and processing it therefore needs a legal basis.

In Colombia, Ley 1581 de 2012 requires that the processing of personal data have the prior, express and informed authorization of the data subject. Applied to cookies, that means the ones that are not essential to providing you the service can only be set after you accept them, not before.

For visitors located in the European Union, article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC and the GDPR set out the same rule, with one express exception: no consent is needed for cookies strictly necessary to transmit the communication or to provide a service you have specifically requested.

Hence the design of this site's panel: you can accept everything, reject everything, or choose category by category, from the first level of the notice and in the same number of clicks. No optional box is ticked in advance, continuing to browse does not count as acceptance, and the site's content is identical whatever you decide.

3. Types of cookies

Cookies are usually classified by three criteria that combine with one another. Knowing them helps in reading the tables in the sections that follow.

By who manages them

First-party, if set by the domain you are visiting; third-party, if set by another domain (an analytics or advertising platform). Third-party cookies are the ones that make it possible to follow you across different websites.

By how long they last

Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser; persistent cookies remain for a defined period or until you delete them.

By what they are for

Technical or strictly necessary; preference or personalization; analytics or measurement; and behavioural advertising. Only the first are exempt from consent.

4. What this site always uses

These entries are strictly necessary and do not require your consent, but we do have to tell you about them. They are first-party, are shared with no third party and are not used to build profiles.

5. What is only set if you allow it

These cookies belong to external providers and are not set unless you accept them in the settings panel. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.

Entries marked *not active* correspond to planned tools that are not yet installed on the site. They are documented for transparency: if they are ever switched on, this table is updated and the marker changes, so you do not have to find out on your own.

When these tools are active, the information collected may be processed by Google on servers located outside Colombia. The terms of that transfer are described in the international transfers section of the Privacy Policy.

6. How to change your decision

There are two routes, and both work at any time:

1. 1From this site. Open the preferences panel with the *Cookie settings* link in the footer, or with the button at the end of this document. You can switch each category on or off separately, and the change takes effect immediately.
2. 2From your browser. Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data. This is the more thorough route, because it also reaches sites you visited earlier.

Safari

Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

Microsoft Edge

Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

7. What happens if you reject them

Nothing that matters to you. The site works the same, shows the same content, and the contact form stays fully operational. The only consequence is that we stop having aggregate data on which sections get read, which makes it somewhat harder for us to improve the site. That cost is ours, not yours.

We do not use cookie walls: at no point do we condition access to content on your accepting optional cookies.

8. What we do not do

For clarity, and because the absence of processing is relevant information too:

• We do not sell or transfer browsing data to third parties.
• We do not use fingerprinting or covert identifiers.
• We do not load fonts from external servers: they are served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts Google Fonts or reveals your IP address to it.
• We do not embed social network pixels, third-party chat widgets or heat maps.
• We do not make automated decisions with legal effects about you based on your browsing.

9. Validity of consent and changes

Your decision is kept for six (6) months. After that we will ask again, so that your consent remains a current decision rather than a box you ticked years ago.

We will also ask again if we introduce cookies serving a new purpose or change provider, because in that case the earlier consent would no longer cover the new processing.

10. Language

This policy is published in Spanish and in English. The Spanish version is the only authentic one and prevails in the event of any discrepancy between the two.
